You just found the coolest crafts project your kids will do all summer.  The best part is that it is simple and cheap. To make the multi color effect, you will want to create separate batches. 4 separate batches were made and then they were all mixed together. (black, turquoise, violet and silver)

The recipe for one batch includes:

  • 1 bottle of Elmer’s clear school glue (5 oz)
  • 1/2-3/4 cup Sta-Flo Liquid Starch (Walmart should have it)
  • Liquid watercolors (several squirts until you get a nice deep color)
  • A variety of Fine Glitter colors

Mixing it up

The trick here is to take the mixing slow!  If you dump everything together at once, it is not going to work.  What you need to do is:

-add all the glue

-add in color and sprinkles

-mix with hands

Then the trick comes in.  You want to drizzle in a little starch at a time (not all at once)

-mix and knead like you are making bread.  Do not add too much starch or it will become too firm and un-playable.

Stop mixing starch when you have a good playable consistency

Now it is time to play!
