Materials for your beer bottle glasses:
- Beer glass bottles
- Lighter fluid
- Lighter
- Twine or cotton string
- Ice water
- Sanding paper
Step 1
Cut your string and tie it tightly around the beer bottle. You should have it just above the label.
Step 2
Once you’ve tied the string, test it first to make sure that it won’t become loose. Now pour your lighter fluid in a cup or bowl and completely soak your string.
Step 3
Now that you have the string all soaked up, fit it to your bottle again. Be sure that it’s lined up straight. You wouldn’t want a crooked drinking glass.
Step 4
When you’re sure that the string is tightly fitted, take your lighter and light the string.
Step 5
Now that you have the fire going, rotate the glass to ensure that the flame goes around the entire string. This will make the bottle very hot which is essential to cutting the glass. Keep rotating it until the fire is almost out.
Step 6
As the flame goes out, pour your ice water directly to the bottle. Do this right away since the goal is to have an immediate change in temperature.
And just like that, the neck breaks! Wasn’t that cool?
Step 7
You now have a beer bottle glass, well almost. Before you use it, sand the edges using your sand paper. Do this outside and inside the rim of the glass, we wouldn’t want any injuries. And just after a few minutes of sanding, you’re done!
You can now serve your ice cold beer in these upcycled beer bottle glasses. What fun!
