Step 1. First, we need to take our pup’s measurements (Allow a bit of extra room for a comfortable fit.) :

  • Length of puppy’s back (from the top of his tail to his neck)
  • Around his neck area
  • Around his chest
  • Girth

Step 2. We’ll start with your old fleece pants! You can remove the ribbed cuff unless it’s loose enough for your pup’s head to fit through. If yes, you can just roll it back a few times.

Step 3. Mark distance between front legs on fabric. Cut the openings big enough for paws to fit through.

Step 4. Reposition the fabric so the side seams to run along each side of your pet. Cut the fabric to get a better measurement on your puppy’s back.

Step 5. Using back measurement, cut the fabric on an angle.

Now you can try the jacket on. It should be comfortable and allow freedom of your pet’s movement.
