Meet Oliver! Oliver is a beloved member of my sister’s family. Today he is a happy cat! With the help of Gail, my brother-in-law, and my sister, Karla, Oliver has a new bed.

I acquired this old table almost a year ago. I immediately had the idea of turning it into a dog bed and just never got around to it. I suspect you have a few ugly ducklings lurking in your garage waiting to become swans.

The headboard is made from scrap trim measured and cut to fit between two legs.

I purchased four 4 1/2″ finials at Lowes. Vintage knobs would work, as well. Gail cut aprox. 1″ off leg bottoms to accommodate base of finials.

The 2″H feet are made from scrap pine and secured with wood glue and screws. Simple blocks of wood are a sufficient alternative.

After selecting my vintage fabric for the cushion, I chose Valspar Dune grass interior latex satin to match. I lightly sanded, primed, and painted.

To add a little pizazz I used a paint marker I purchased at Michael’s to fill in existing router lines.

My sister made a cushion with leftover foam. Don’t sew? Use a bed pillow. I know what you are thinking. It looks awful girly to be a boy cat’s bed…

Oliver doesn’t seem to mind.
